The Hakata Dontaku Port Festival is a significant festival that embodies the history and culture of Hakata. Originating from the traditional folk event “Hakata Matsubayashi” around 840 years ago, it has evolved over the centuries into one of Japan’s major festivals, thanks to the wisdom and efforts of generations past. Nowadays, it attracts over two million visitors from both Japan and abroad.

This year, the vibrant and diverse “Dontaku teams” will perform at various stages and in parades along Meiji Street. The festival is conveniently located just a minute away from WeBase Hakata, making it easy to enjoy. I’m looking forward to seeing the performances. It sounds like a great event to attend!

『博多どんたく港まつり』は、今からおよそ840年前の治承3年（1179年）に始まったとされる伝統的な民俗行事『博多松囃子』を起源としています。

長い歴史の中で受け継がれ、先人たちの知恵と努力で幾多の困難を乗り越え、昭和37年（1962年）に市民総参加の『福岡市民の祭り』となり、

今日では国内外から200万人以上の人出で賑わう日本有数のお祭りとなっております。

今年も個性あふれる多彩な“どんたく隊”が、明治通りの「パレード」や市内各所に設置された「演舞台」でパフォーマンスを披露します。
