初春祭（餅押し裸祭）は若者たちが、厄に見立てた大餅を、裸の締め込み姿で水を浴びながら、激しく奪い合う初春祭です。

この祭りは厄除けと招福を願って古く江戸時代から行われており、餅を持って帰った人には福が来ると言われています。
またこの日は早朝より福引が行われるほか、神社の楼門の辺りでは厄年の人たちが参拝者に酒を振る舞い、一般の方にも小さな餅が配られます。

Sakurai Shrine Mochi-Oshi is an early spring festival in which young people violently compete for a large rice cake, which is represented as a symbol of bad luck, while wearing a tight-fitting, naked costume and drenched in water.

This festival has been held since the Edo period (1603-1867) to ward off bad luck and bring good fortune to the people who bring home the rice cakes.
On the day of the festival, a lucky draw is held from early in the morning, and people of bad luck age serve sake to visitors around the shrine’s tower gate, and small rice cakes are also distributed to the general public.
